During 2011, the total amount allocated -either by public, privatedirect or other tender - was US$ 9,307 million, 49% less than the figure for 2010. This due to the fact that the amounts in long-term contracts for the supply of electricity and fuels were considerably smaller. If we isolate the effect of these contracts, the amount of business signed by the Corporation was increased by 64% with regards to the previous year.
The greater part of the total amount allocated was awarded through private auctions (68 %), followed by public tenders.
In divisions ...
In all our divisions, we foster generating
actions that favour procurement of local
goods and services, even though the
company does not have a specific policy
about this. Through these hirings, we often
incorporate local labor, thus contributing
to the development of the labor
market in the environment surrounding
our operations.
During 2011, recorded procurement of local goods and services for over US$ 100,000, highlighting procurement made by the Ventanas Division in the communities of Valparaiso and Quintero. The most significant hirings correspond to services related to the production process of this division, such as the unloading of copper anodes and the repair or maintenance of equipment.
Regarding the most important contracts signed in other divisions, these are also associated with each operation’s production process and, in some cases, other types of services such as local media and broadcasting at Andina.
