Mori Survey
Codelco obtains first place in Corporate Social Responsibility, improving the 2009 results. Furthermore, it positions itself as the most trustworthy company.
Job Training
During the annual dinner held by the National Training Bureau (SENCE) Codelco Norte Division was awarded as the company who undertook the greatest number of training precontracts, benefitting 900 workers.
Gender Equality
Codelco is recognized by former president Michelle Bachelet for achievements in gender equality, within the framework of an agreement with Sernam (National Women’s Bureau).
Mining Strike
Chuquicamata miners carry out a legal three-day strike. This was the first standstill in Codelco in 13 years.
El Teniente Division
Achieves the elimination of 5 liquid industrial wastes before the Superintendence of Sanitation Services.
Earthquake
Chile is struck by one of the biggest seismic events ever registered anywhere in the world. Codelco suffered minor impacts to its production. The Corporation and its workers, as volunteers, deployed a network of great solidarity and support for the victims.
Codelco
heads the “Mining-barometerâ€, the National Mining Companies Ranking, as the company best positioned in labor, economic, community and environmental matters, among others.
New Corporate Government
The new Board, governed by Corporate Governance Law 20,392 which entered into force in November 2009, was constituted on March 1st.
Fatal accident at El Salvador Division
Three workers from contractor companies were deceased: Juan Pizarro Barraza, Feliciano Godoy Zuleta, and Alberto Véliz Véliz.
Historic Agreement
Codelco Norte and the Quechua community reach an historic agreement. The support program for the community includes supplying water resources, ground recovery, a livestock development plan and social support for families that commence their return to their place of origin.

Corporate Governance
With the exit of Alberto Arenas, Andrés Sanfuentes, and Nicolás Majluf and the entry of Fernando Porcile, Juan Luis Ossa and Andrés Tagle, in accordance to the new Corporate Governance Law 20,392, the board conformed on March 1st is renewed.
New CEO
On May 19th new Chief Executive Officer for Codelco, Mr. Diego Hernandez C., assumes his duties.
National Safety Contest
Andina division receives an award from the National Safety Council for achieving 2 million man-hours worked with no accidents (47th National Safety Contest, 2009).
Project approval
The Regional Environmental Commission (COREMA) of the O’Higgins region approves the El Teniente division “Rajo Sur†project.
Accusation
Two executives from Ventanas division are fined for their responsibility in the pollution of the Bay of Quintero, between the years 2006 and 2007, prior to the transfer of the smelter to Codelco.
Anniversary
39 years since the nationalization of copper in Chile are commemorated.

San José Mine
The San José mine, which belongs to the San Esteban mining company, collapses, trapping 33 miners inside it. Immediately after, rescue operations lead by Codelco began.
World Expo 2010 Shanghai
World Expo 2010 Shanghai is carried out, where in the Chilean pavilion Codelco, and the International Copper Association, presented the antimicrobial properties of copper.
Codelco scholarships
2,000 scholarships destined to the higher education of contractor and subcontractor company workers’ children are awarded.
Climate Change
Codelco achieved the 10th place among more than one hundred Chilean companies in the Climate Change Corporate Management Index (CCCMI) prepared by Fundación Chile and Capital magazine, for initiatives to incorporate climate change management in operations.
Vice-presidency for Administration and Finance
The Vice-presidency for Administration and Finance is created, with the objective of ensuring the most efficient use of resources and financing of the investment program.

33 Miners
The 33 miners trapped by the collapse of the San José Mine in Copiapó are rescued alive, two months after the collapse. Codelco headed the rescue supplying professional and technological equipment.

Codelco issues a historic US $1 billion dollars ten year bond in the international market, with an annual rate of 3.96%.

Codelco Report Line
Use of the Codelco Report Line is extended to the entire community, where it can now be used by any person external to the company to report on breaches to the Code of Conduct and Business Ethics, instrument which promotes good practices. It can be accessed by telephone or over the internet.
Recognition
The Sara Cortés school (Diego de Almagro) recognized the Salvador division for their support through the Codelco Good Neighbor program.
Value Statement
An interactive dialogue regarding our Value Statement is carried out, activity that congregated over 6,300 opinions about the values that best represent Codelco.
Industrial Waste Disposal
El Teniente adds the elimination of one more wastewater discharge. The Andina division achieves the elimination of 4 wastewater discharges. In total, Codelco eliminates 10 wastewater discharges in 2010.
Workshop
The first Codelco mine closure workshop is carried out called “Putting Mining Social Responsibility to the Testâ€.
Ministro Hales Mine
The board approves construction of the new Ministro Hales mine. It will be in an execution stage for 36 months and will begin operations towards the end of 2013. Its useful life will span 50 years
Antimicrobial Copper
Chile registers antimicrobial copper as a registered trademark, with the exhibition of the “antimicrobial copper cu+†seal.
Bargaining
The collective bargaining with Radomiro Tomic workers concludes successfully.
Award
The Dutch company Bentley Systems awarded Codelco the “be inspired 2010†award, for “ for extraordinary reach of an engineering project†category, in honor of its distinguished participation and leadership in the rescue of the 33 miners trapped in the San José mine.
Innovation in Information Technologies
The center for Information Technology Studies, of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile awards Codelco’s BOTDR project for its innovation in information technologies, in the Infrastructure and Technology category.
European Union
The European Chemical Agency (ECHA), regulatory authority for the European Union, approved registration of Codelco’s main commercial products, complying with the new requirements established by European authorities to allow the entry of chemical substances to their market.
Value Statement
The Board ratifies the Value Statement which henceforward will guide the company management. This Statement was born of a dialogue process which included all company personnel.
Divisional Structure
Codelco begins operating with a new divisional structure: The Vice-Presidency for Northern Operations, which groups the Chuquicamata and Radomiro Tomic divisions, and the new Ministro Hales and Salvador divisions; and the Vice-Presidency for Center and Southern Operations, under which iperate the Andina, Ventanas, and El Teniente divisions.
Solar Plant
In Calama, construction on the first industrial solar panel existing in Latin America begins.
Price of Copper
The price of copper reaches its highest level for the year when it surpasses 4 dollars an ounce and obtains a 3.38 average, thus experiencing the greatest increase ever recorded in Chile.
Sustainable Codelco survey
The Sustainable Codelco survey, applied by Gestra, distinguishes Codelco as the most socially responsible company in the country, significantly ahead of other companies.
Recognition
The Jurike Center, Institution that cares for handicapped children, recognized the contribution made by the Chuquicamata division through the continuous support from 2006 to date.
Sustainability
Codelco was evaluated through the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) methodology, achieving as a result 9th place among 41 mining companies which were evaluated worldwide during 2010.
Mejillones Children’s Symphonic Orchestra
Codelco delivers almost 50 musical instruments for the formation of the Mejillones Children’s Symphonic Orchestra, replicating the project generated three years ago in Los Andes.
